Artist: 2 Rare People
2 Rare People took off last year as one of the most interesting and hard working bands in the national electronic scene. Originally comprised of producer Javi golo and DJ Ivan Serra, they debuted in the summer of 2003 in the hands of the DPress Industries label with the number 6 release, "Time." Since then they have been working nonstop in the studio and have produced singles and remixes in labels like Nica Vare, Permissive Records, Blackout'77 and Dpress Industries. They have also produced work for Jack de Marseille's label Wicked Music (Cyber-Francia) which soidly placed them at the forefront of the French techno scene and have been called to play numerous times alongside Laurent Garnier and Jack de Marseille in the mythical Rex club in Paris.
This past year a new member was added to the group: vocalist Greg XXL, which has allowed them to bring a pop-rock touch to their tracks. Greg XXL has brought his punk-rock influences to the original electro-tech sound of 2 Rare People, elevating the group to new levels that range somewhere between Electro-pop and techno-rock.
The majority of their work to this date has been canned and charted by dj's of the highest caliber such as Carl Cox, Oxia, The Hacker, Ivan Smmaghe, Jack de Marseille, Pascal Feos, Sven Vath, and Angel Molina to name a few.
Javi Golo, reputed producer and sound engineer in the electronic music scene and Ivan Serra, Resident DJ of the infamous Metro Dance Club and On Club in Murcia, have locked themselves in the studio for 5 months along with Greg XXL to work on their first album, and this is the result... a brilliant work, lucid and well polished. Twelve tracks that travel between techno-rock, melodic electro, minimal techno with EBM influences, and a clear nod to groups like Sisters of Mercy and other groups of that golden age of techno-pop.
2 Rare People maintain throughout the record an ample vision of electronic dance music: forceful tracks focused on the dancefloor yet maintaining the escence of rock and pop.
Dark, deep bass, catchy melodies, obscene lyrics, rolling techno and a brilliant finish... pure Rock n' Roll!!!
